100% Full Occupancy at the Quay

Situated near to the picturesque harbour, Commercial Quay is home to 5 thriving local, national and international businesses in Weymouth whose client's range from local to worldwide companies. The offices are part of the award winning Brewer's Quay complex in Hope Square that houses a shopping village, the Weymouth Museum, attractions and restaurant.

Roger Dalton, Director of Brewers Quay said:- "We now have 100% occupancy in both the retail and office accommodation here at Brewers Quay - Its really encouraging to see so many fledgling businesses getting established, providing employment and generating wealth within the area."

The largest of the offices is occupied by Financial Solutions, a company that has been based at Commercial Quay for almost three years. It offers a full range of financial services, including investments, pensions, inheritance tax and health insurance. A sub-section of the company, Mortgage Solutions, offers mortgage advice and guidance. Since setting up in 1995, Financial Solutions has increased its workforce to ten full-time employees, all with extensive and various experience.

Founder Peter Lenga, who has worked in finance since 1980, said: "If I cannot offer a client exactly what they are looking for in terms of their mortgage, I can offer them independent financial advice. We started working with people throughout the county and into Somerset, but we are now reaching people nationwide with our web-site."

Commercial Quay provides bright, spacious office space with ample parking for employees and clients.

Its location acts as an attractive incentive for customers and to businesses looking for a pleasant and well-known base.

Roger Dalton said:- "I think Brewers Quay provides a quality working environment and the attractive harbourside and café scene in Hope Square makes it an excellent venue to meet and entertain visiting clients."

Getaway Digital was originally based at Southwell Business Park, Portland, until a need for expansion moved them to Commercial Quay 16 months ago. It has now become the South of England's premier marketing development and promotional specialists for small and medium sized businesses within the tourism industry.
The company's core projects include the design and production of resort-guide.co.uk, a web site that specialises in the tourism industry, Weymouth's 2004 carnival guide and publishing the Eating Out Guide for Portsmouth's Port Solent. In addition to print and design, Getaway Digital also offer full photographic and copywriting services and maintain a comprehensive portfolio of destination images for the use of clients, both in print and online. Business Manager Andrew Cooke, said: "To further our business opportunities we moved to Commercial Quay as it was beneficial for a tourist based business to be in a tourist area.

"Being at Commercial Quay in Hope Square and on this side of the harbour is an exclusive and fashionable area and telling our customers that we are in offices next to Brewer's Quay is very useful as everyone knows the area and therefore, everyone knows where we are."

Getaway Digital has built up a strong relationship with over 300 clients and continued to increase its productions and workforce since its move from Portland. The resort-guide.co.uk exceeds one million hits every year, with over ten million page impressions.

Mr Cooke added: "Weymouth will always be where we base our business as we work closely with the tourism community here, on Portland and in Dorchester. We certainly would never leave Weymouth or Commercial Quay."

The latest addition to Commercial Quay is Nigel Stimpson, who is putting the finishing touches to a new business venture selling local and foreign properties.
His agency opens to the public in May and will use a computerised system to find properties in Spain, France, Portugal and Florida, as well as Weymouth.

He said: "My aim is to offer a professional service where the consumer comes first and they walk away with good value. I have always had an interest in property and believe that, because there are so many agents in the town competing against each other, the customer is not getting value for money."

Mr Stimpson has lived in Weymouth all his life and owned an engineering firm in the town for seven years. He said: "I am born and bred in Weymouth and am one hundred per cent committed to the town. "I'm setting up a family business, run by myself and two other experienced members of my family. We hope to provide a friendly, professional and personal service in a very prestigious part of the town."

Commercial Quay also provides an administrative base for local building contractors, Castledawn. Dave Stokes, owner of Castledawn, has been working as a contractor and developer in Weymouth for twelve years. Some of their recent developments include Lorton barn and the Pier View amusement arcades on the esplanade.

Mr Stokes said: "We have stability at Commercial Quay and now have somewhere where customers can pop in to see us if they wish."

The last of the businesses in Commercial Quay is the Weymouth branch of LHA systems, a software design company for the international banking market.

In closing Roger Dalton said:- "My ambition for Brewers Quay has always been to create a balanced mix of activities where people could come to work, browse around the shops, see a museum exhibition or just meet for coffee. The benefit of the developing business community is that it creates that balance and makes the area appealing to locals as well as visitors."
